Baby Shower Sign Wording: 50+ Ideas for Every Table and Station

Baby Shower Sign Wording Ideas | Wild Bloom Design Studio

You've got the design picked out, the colors chosen, the venue booked — and now you're staring at a blank sign template wondering what it should actually say. Sign wording is one of those things that feels like it should be obvious until you're actually doing it. You type "Welcome" and then just… sit there.

Whether you're putting together a full set of coordinating signs or just need one great welcome sign, wording matters more than you'd think. (Need the full planning picture? Our ultimate baby shower checklist covers everything from start to finish.) The right phrase sets the tone for the whole event. Too formal and it feels stiff. Too cute and it might not match your aesthetic. And then there's the question of how much information to include — names? Dates? Instructions?

Here's your cheat sheet. Over 50 wording ideas for every sign you might need at a baby shower, organized by station so you can grab what you need and move on with your life.

Welcome Sign Wording

The welcome sign is the first thing guests see when they walk in, so it does a lot of heavy lifting. It tells people they're in the right place, sets the visual tone, and — if you're going for a themed shower — immediately signals the vibe. Most welcome signs work best with one to three lines of text.

Classic and Traditional

These are the tried-and-true options that work for any theme or formality level. You really cannot go wrong here.

Welcome, Friends and Family — Baby [Last Name] Is Almost Here

With Date or Details

Adding the date is a nice touch if the sign will double as a keepsake — some parents frame their welcome sign after the shower.

[Name]'s Baby Shower — [Date] — [Venue Name]

Gender-Specific

If you're announcing or celebrating a known gender, leaning into it on the welcome sign gives guests that immediate excitement.

Oh Boy! Welcome to [Name]'s Baby Shower
It's a Girl! Welcome to [Name]'s Shower
A Sweet Boy Is on the Way — Welcome to [Name]'s Shower

Gender-Neutral

More and more showers are skipping the gender reveal entirely, and these phrases work beautifully for that.

A Little Blessing Is on the Way
Welcome, Little One Is Almost Here
A New Adventure Begins — Welcome to [Name]'s Baby Shower

Funny and Casual

If the parents-to-be have a good sense of humor (and the shower is more backyard-BBQ than ballroom), a funny welcome sign is always a hit.

Theme-Specific

If you're working with a specific theme — woodland, boho, farmers market, safari — your welcome sign wording can reinforce it.

Welcome to Our Neck of the Woods — Baby [Last Name] Is on the Way (woodland)
Locally Grown — Welcome to [Name]'s Baby Shower (farmers market / boho)
A Wild One Is on the Way — Welcome! (safari / adventure)

Gift Table Sign Wording

The gift table sign serves a practical purpose — it tells guests where to put presents so they're not awkwardly carrying a gift bag around the whole party. Keep it simple. This sign doesn't need to be a poem.

With a Registry or Book Request Note

If you're doing a "bring a book instead of a card" request, the gift table sign is a natural place for a gentle reminder. (Though ideally this was also on the invitation.)

Dessert and Food Table Signs

Food table signs are one of those details that pull the whole event together. They're also surprisingly fun to write because you can get a little playful — nobody expects the cake sign to be serious.

Cake Sign

General Food Station

Themed Food Stations

Themed food bars are having a moment. If you're doing a taco bar, pizza station, or any kind of build-your-own setup, a sign with a clever header goes a long way.

Taco 'Bout a Baby! — Build Your Own Taco
Pizza My Heart — Grab a Slice
Mac and Cheese Bar — Because Baby Deserves Comfort Food

Drink Station and Bar Signs

Drink signs are probably the most-photographed signs at any shower (the mimosa bar sign is basically an Instagram requirement at this point). They're also where you can really have fun with the wording.

Game Table Signs

Baby shower games range from genuinely fun to mildly painful (we all know the one where you melt chocolate in a diaper). Either way, a clear sign for the game table keeps things organized and tells guests what to expect.

Let's Play — Pick Up a Game Card

Specific Game Signs

If you're setting up individual game stations, each one deserves its own small sign with brief instructions.

Photo Booth and Guest Book Signs

Photo booth and guest book signs serve a dual purpose: they point guests in the right direction, and they encourage people to actually participate. Our Wishes for Baby cards make a lovely companion piece for any guest book setup. (Without a sign, half your guests won't realize the polaroid camera on the table is for them.)

Photo Booth

Advice Cards

Share Your Best Advice (or Funniest Warning)
Dear Baby — Write a Note for [Name]'s Little One

Time Capsule

Time capsule stations are a trend that's sticking around — guests write notes or predictions that the child opens years later. Pair them with a Hello World birth announcement to mark the milestone once baby arrives. The sign is essential here because most guests won't know what to do otherwise.

Time Capsule — Write a Note for Baby to Open on Their 18th Birthday
Dear Future [Last Name] — Seal Your Message for Baby to Read in 2044

Favor Table Signs

Favor signs need to accomplish one thing: make it clear that guests should take something on their way out. That's it. If people are leaving without favors, the sign isn't doing its job.

Tips for Great Sign Wording

Before you finalize everything, a few practical notes that'll save you from the most common sign mistakes.

Keep it short. One to two lines of text is the sweet spot for most signs. Welcome signs can go to three lines (name, occasion, date), but food and game table signs should be scannable at a glance. If guests have to stop and read a paragraph, you've written too much.

Match the tone to your theme. A letterboard-style "Help, We're Having a Baby" sign is perfect for a casual backyard shower. It's less perfect for a formal garden party. Read your wording out loud and ask yourself if it sounds like something the host would actually say.

Include names on the welcome sign. It seems obvious, but a surprising number of people forget to personalize the welcome sign. At minimum, include the parent(s)-to-be's name. The date is a nice bonus.

Use the same font and style across all signs. This is the single biggest thing that makes a sign setup look polished versus thrown together. Even if the wording varies, consistent fonts and colors create a cohesive look. (This is a lot easier if you're ordering a matching sign set rather than DIY-ing each one.)

Test readability. If you can't read the sign from three feet away, simplify it. Drop the script font for headers, increase the size, or cut a line of text. Signs that look beautiful on a screen sometimes disappear on a table surrounded by decorations.

Don't forget the practical signs. Bathroom directions, parking info, Wi-Fi password — these aren't glamorous, but they prevent guests from asking the same question fifteen times. A small, simple sign handles it.

People Also Ask

What size should a baby shower sign be?

It depends on the sign's purpose. Welcome signs are typically 18x24 inches or 24x36 inches — large enough to read from across the room. Learn more about materials in our foam board signs guide. Table signs (food labels, gift table, game stations) work well at 5x7 or 8x10 inches. If the sign needs to be seen from more than a few feet away, go bigger. Our printed signs come in the most popular sizes for baby showers.

How many signs do I need for a baby shower?

Most baby showers use between four and eight signs. At minimum, you'll want a welcome sign and a gift table sign. From there, add signs for any food or drink stations, a game table, and a guest book or photo booth. A favor table sign is a nice finishing touch. You don't need a sign for every surface — just the spots where guests might need direction.

Should baby shower signs match the invitations?

They don't have to be identical, but they should feel like they belong together. Matching the color palette and general style (modern, rustic, floral, minimal) creates a pulled-together look. Many of our baby shower sign collections are designed as suites that coordinate with matching invitations, so the hard work is already done.

What should a baby shower welcome sign say?

At its simplest: "Welcome to [Name]'s Baby Shower." Browse our printed baby shower welcome signs for ready-made options you can customize. You can add the date, the baby's gender (if known), or a theme-specific phrase. The welcome sign is the one place where you can add a little more personality — a funny line, a play on the theme, or a sentimental note. Scroll up to our welcome sign section for a dozen specific examples.

Can I use the same sign wording for a boy or girl shower?

Absolutely. Most of the wording in this guide is completely gender-neutral and works for any shower. If you want gender-specific language, just swap in "boy" or "girl" where you'd normally say "baby" or "little one." But honestly, gender-neutral wording tends to feel more modern and inclusive, and it saves you from re-doing signs if plans change.

When should I order baby shower signs?

If you're ordering printed signs, give yourself at least two to three weeks before the shower. Already thinking ahead to baby's first birthday? Our first birthday planning guide picks up right where the shower leaves off. That accounts for production time, shipping, and a small buffer in case anything needs to be adjusted. Rush orders are sometimes possible, but planning ahead means less stress. If you're going the printable route, you can technically do it the night before — though we wouldn't recommend it for your sanity. For more on the pros and cons, see our printed vs. DIY guide.
